Pig and Horse

Mommy read this story from a newspaper article and she feels like sharing this meaningful story to me...

Little horse asked his mother, mommy why the farmer treat the pig so well, they have good nice food to eat and they don't need to work so hard like us and in return we only get to eat dry grass and cold water. Mommy told the little horse everything come with a price and she told little horse to work hard each day and practise with the little owner. One day he won a trophy during a race and the farmer had a big celebration for his son and the little horse success by inviting lot of people to have a Big Roasted Pork Feast. While eating the dry grass and cold water, little horse feel blessed that he is not a pig and now he is a champion horse which he gains respect from his owner. keeekeee... (can't find the story on line here is the not so prof version.. but is still so meaningful to me)

3rd Week Home Schooling Activities

I write little note for him each day and I will put into the basket so that he can read it. Last week is a short week as he I am sick on monday and his daddy bring him out for a show on friday. These are what he do over the 3rd week of Holiday 8)

Taking for Granted

Mommy:

Am I proud that Justen is confident to go on stage? Yes I am but I forgotten that one will get afraid when going there. My son is not, I have taken it for granted. I forget to praise him for his braveness.

Once I am talking to Justen's teacher, she praised Justen being independent in his work, she say I am blessed too as I have a kid who can finish his own task with minimum guidance. Yes I have taken that for granted too. I tot all kids are suppose to finish job all by themselves.

He is communicating well with strangers and I take them for granted again... Now I should remember to praise him more for what I tot he is always good in.

I am a Conductor!

Blind Men and Elephant

Mommy:

I like the story of Blind Men and Elephant. There are so much to talk behind this simple story.

I cut part of the story from the web...

"Hey, the elephant is a pillar," said the first man who touched his leg.
"Oh, no! it is like a rope," said the second man who touched the tail.
"Oh, no! it is like a thick branch of a tree," said the third man who touched the trunk of the elephant.
"It is like a big hand fan" said the fourth man who touched the ear of the elephant.
"It is like a huge wall," said the fifth man who touched the belly of the elephant.
"It is like a solid pipe," Said the sixth man who touched the tusk of the elephant.
They began to argue about the elephant and everyone of them insisted that he was right. It looked like they were getting agitated... ...

The moral of the story is that there may be some truth to what someone says. Sometimes we can see that truth and sometimes not because they may have different perspective which we may not agree too. So, rather than arguing like the blind men, we should say, "Maybe you have your reasons." This way we don’t get in arguments.

Sight Words Approach

Mommy:-

He can blend 3 letters word pretty well but he is not confident when come to reading. He prefer me doing all of it and he just listen. I let him learn those sight words from cards and make him remember them. And it help him and it build up his confident to start reading. At least try when I am not around. Today I went to bath while waiting he took out one of the book - 3 billy goat gruffs and he start reading it. When he saw me come out from the bathroom and he start reading from the 1st page aloud. I am very happy. Think that is a good approach for him and I also using those words to make up story to make those words come to life. He enjoys it too 8)

Nafa Art School

Mommy reached the campus at 7.3oam. The gate open at 9am, she only get a number of 102 at 9.45am. Registration is very systematic and we leave the place at 10.30am. I will be attending the lesson with Jaden we will be in the same class 8)

Mommy don't really like my stunt, but she think that is amazing too.

2nd week Home Schooling Activities

Nothing is done on Monday and Tuesday, mommy is very sad, as she really trying very hard to make my activities look interesting. I didn't bother to do any of them. She is very disappointed and wanted to give up for a sec... She is disappointed with my attitude towards completing the tasks, so the 1st 2 day is consoling and using soft and hard approach to make me work. Soon I completed my task on Wednesday with some special treat from her. She put candy stick and marshmallow in some of the work and I feel rewarded when doing those activities. She hope that I can continue to be good 8)

She have a few tasks to complete by this holiday.

1st I need to know 1-100
2nd I need to know addition with 1 of the number is in my mouth.
3rd I need to differential a and e as I get confuse with their sound.
4th I need to Know some tricky words
5th I need to correct my mistake of writing 3 and 7 with mirror image
6th I need to write all in small letters and not capital letters
etc...

Wednesday - Dot to Dot 1-50, Fill in the blanks for a and e, addition with 3 and 7 (he called me as most of his answer are the same with either 3,13,7 or 17), Mix and Match with Chinese 1-10, BTW he did some drawing by himself and now the man he draw are more chubby no more stick man liao. And she add on small detail to his drawing too. He is good in imitation too he draw a beautiful butterfly just like the one from the dot to dot picture. Yes I am a happy mommy again, never say die and never give up hope on my little prince 8)

Mommy folded the aeroplane and unfold it and she keep a step by step note so that I can follow on making a plane. That is what I always want to learn so I did it on Tuesday nite. Addition and Fill in the blanks I did it on Wednesday afternoon. Spelling board on Wednesday nite with mommy and Chinese 1-10 mix and match on Wednesday afternoon using ruler.Squirrel and Acorn words and match I did it on Wednesday and phonics with lot of mistake on the same day too. Mommy say is ok to make mistake as we learn from our mistake, a person who refuse to make mistake never learn. Dot to Dot 1-50.Correction is done on Wednesday nite and I do drawing and lego building in the day time too.

Kumon Cutting game, Handwriting practice in Chinese, Phonics practice, dot to dot and number sequence. Mommy make a lego on the bottom left the one look like a fish, I make another 3, Daddy, me and Rayen. An aeroplane and a helicopter.

Stunt

My parents don't really encourage me to do this kind of stunt but it is fun. Mommy love to stunt when she is a young girl too. She expecting to see more when I go K1 as I have gym once a week at bridges. 8)

What happen to the 2 little pigs?

Mommy only have 2 kids, the story should only goes with 2 little pigs and the big bad wolf...

I refuse to build the house of straws so Mommy pig requests me to take care of Rayen pig and build the house of bricks. We built a strong house eventually.

Since big bad wolf couldn't huff and puff the house of bricks, he knocks the door gently and Rayen pig who is younger opened the door for him. Big bad wolf catchs her and wanted to eat Rayen pig up. Justen pig come to the rescue. Big bad wolf who is not so bad after all wanted to challenge Justen pig with some mathematics questions. If he answera any of the question wrongly Rayen pig will be going into the wolf tummy.

Justen pig bravely take up the challenge and big bad wolf give him a few question on addition, Justen pig using his new learnt trick able to answer all those questions correctly and save Rayen pig from danger.

Big bad wolf keeps his promise and released Rayen pig and he walk home sadly without eating any food on that day.

Both Justen and Rayen pig lives happily ever after...

New Neighourhood

Saturday morning we ride our bicycle and tricycle to our new neighbourhood to have breakfast and test on their newly built playground after that me and daddy go for a hair cut. Look at meimei she is thinking when is her turn to go for a haircut again. The last one they shave her hair 6mths ago... Now mama ban them from touching her hair liao.

Polliwogs

We have a date with Crystal's mom and Daryll's mom to Polliwogs one fine day 8) We enjoy a lot although is not a big playground but is good enough for us to have a lot of fun.

Daddy very proud of this picture he took, background is a new HDB near our house, as there are quiet a number of contruction at our area....

Do I looked stress while eating candy? No lah, not really I sort out the colors by my training chopsticks. Count and write down how much in each plate, using 2 extra plates I learn odd and even. Finally I got to eat my share after all the calculation exercises.

1st week homeschooling activities

Monday - Idling, as I don't know where is the basket... But nite time I manage to finish the following. Write letter a, Tangram and Build a Lego as per given model. Tuesday - Write letter b, 1-13, addition of 1, 3 letters phonic matching, lego building, Kumon Cutting game, Vege and Fruit Basket matching game, Color and it name matching game. Wednesday - Using the cutting game pic to paste on a paper mommy instruction is to use glue but the glue have some problem flowing out so I used Scotch tape instead. Build a Dino with shapes and some handwriting practice. Kumon Cutting Game and Sea Creature Coloring. Thursday - He only finish cutting the spinning snake, chinese writing, drawing a step by step mushroom and dot to dot the rest we do it together when I am home.
(I can't coach him while he is doing his job so he need a lot of determination and self discipline to finish his task all by himself my mother in law help me to ensure he is doing his writing work too, I will give him a quick briefing before I leave the house. I hope I can stay on for the next 4 weeks 8)

Home Schooling

Mommy didn't update my blog for awhile, she is very busy...

She is doing some activities to fill up my time at home. As I am having a long holiday for 6 weeks.

1st day of holiday she prepared about 5 activities in a basket and ask me to do it when I have free time. Too bad I didn't do any of them as I can't find the basket =.="

2nd day, which is yesterday i completed most of them including some written worksheet. I told her I love to do them and hope to have more.

She rewarded me with stars to decorate my Xmas tree 8) Once the tree is filled with stars Santa will come and I will have a present under neath. How wonderful it is, I am totally excited about Xmas 8)

Tuckshop week update 3 - Learning a Lesson

I make magic, I brought S$1 to school and I bring back $1.1 with a cubic game. I have watermelon and orange too. I told mommy my friend give me money( she nearly fainted) and she told me I cannot borrow money from anyone and I can only get money from my parents or by hard work. She prepare 2 gold coins in my wallet and ask me to return it back to my friend today. I told her I did what she requested. (Good lesson learnt from both of us...)

**Mommy is grateful that my teacher call her to report on my behaviour in school, a mistake is done and we can't wipe it, but we need to face it and correct it. Finding the root cause is important but she feel that nagging to spend thing wisely is as important as not to take or borrow money to people. (Luckily is tuckshop week and not tuckshop month...*_*"

Tuckshop week update 2

Mommy's word...

Justen, mommy want to tell you that I am so proud and happy to have you as my son. I think Rayen is happy to be your sister too 8) You come back from school with 2 drawing tools. You bought 2 because 1 for mei mei which is red and 1 for yourself. Although our little girl spoil it within an hour but it really show that you have some thought for her. I am very "an wei" for that! But again the item you bought look interesting but not durable. So mommy need to nag again, please spend wisely and we keep the remaining in your "Tong Tong" for more interesting stuff ok?

BTW:this morning you told me that your friend spend all the single cent he brought to school, you sound a bit jealous but my dear son, you know you are at the right trek, and keep it up and don't feel sad.

Tuckshop Week Update - Give me but can't use it?

This week is our yearly tuckshop week 8) Monday mommy forgot to give me allowance to school, but she remember to do so on Tuesday, she told me use the money wisely. I bought a foam plane and left 30 cents in my wallet. She give me an additional 30 cents so that I have 60 cents to put in my piggy bank. She gave Rayen 1 dollar to put in her More More too. This morning she pass me another dollar and remind me to spend it wisely again. No toy or stationary, can buy food if I don't have enough. Bring back the remaining and save it. I called her at noon, I told her I bought a drawing material, I didn't buy toys and I keep some money back. Mommy praise me for my saving as for the thing I bought she didn't say much but ask me to show it to me when she is back.

Learning to spend wisely is really a "da xue wen" mommy is still learning too.

Swimming Update

5th lesson and I am able to push my head out to breath and swim without float for 4m, still need to learn on coordination but I think is a very good achievement. I am so proud of myself.

(Is really heart pain for both my parents to see me trying very hard to struggle in water, but no pain no gain at least now I can swim all by myself for a short distance. A clap from my sis too!)

Concert @ the Park - Story Telling in a Fish

There is a big fish @ Pasir Ris and I go into it tummy, what do I do inside? There is a story telling session. I enjoy very much but I am a little upset when mommy come to fetch me a bit late. See the foto on the left? Mommy took it outside the fish while I am inside there.

Kranji Farm Tour

We are lucky today as we are just in time to be stop by the red light, as a train full of Load is going to pass by. Due to the train I see a long long jam on both side of the road, don't think other driver will think that they are luckDo you see 2 little cute froggies? We are at the frog farm.

Don't know they are looking at us or we are looking at them. So many of them, some are really good jumper and some are going to a non returning trip.

Mommy initially plan to buy some polliwogs for me, but she see their size, she changed her idea just take a picture of them can liao. Meimei ask mommy to hand over her camera as usual. That answer why she can't take a good picture of meimei as she always very angry that she didn't get what she wants.

Both not very happy to take a pic, one 3 pic all bcc, one even look away trying to act blur.Everyone come here must take a picture.This goat force his head out to take a picture with me.We see so many plants and fruits in Long Zhu Guo Garden. Can you spot red long bean, lady fingers, Winter Melon, Grapes, Pineapple? Mommy even see Corn, chili and many more but I ask her to go back soon as there are too many ants coming our way.
Feeding Koi @ the vege farm. Their fish are really big and colorful.Do you see these drink in stall, not bad actually, is red long zhu gou drink, no fish, prawn also not bad... BTW they have white one too, but mommy love their red long zhu guo and she hate white de.

We have our lunch at Bollywood, this is their 3 in 1 Kueh, very yummy but please remember to bring cash as they don't accept net or visa, their dishes are cheap standard is around 5S$ with no additional charges. Anyway they are the only restaurant in Kranji farm so we have no other choice either 8). BTW their Indian Waiter are super efficient, they will come and clear your plate just after you take away the last pcs of food in your plate. They look contented with their job, thinking they might be part time waiter and full time farmer.
